WordPress shows a lot of options. In practice you will spend nearly all your time in three places, and this page walks through each of them in the order you are likely to need them.
Pages

Pages are the permanent parts of your site — services, about, contact. Editing one opens the block editor, where each paragraph, heading and image is a separate block you can select and move.
Posts
Posts are dated entries: news, insights, case studies. They appear automatically in listings, so you rarely need to link to a new one by hand.

Media
Every image and document you upload lands here. Uploading the same file twice creates two copies, so search before you upload.
File naming
Descriptive filenames help both search engines and whoever inherits the library after you. “spring-campaign-hero.jpg” beats “IMG_4821.jpg”.
Alt text
Add alt text as you upload, while you still remember what the image shows. It is what screen readers announce and what search engines read.
Users
Add a colleague here rather than sharing a login. Roles matter: Editors can publish anything, Authors only their own work, Contributors cannot publish at all.
Settings you should not change
Permalinks, site address and theme options are configured at launch and changing them can break every link to your site. Ask us first.
